About Me

Thanks for stopping by here at my first food blog. I am so excited to have a little part of the internet to share my ideas and recipes. I hope you will find these recipes easy and fun to read and cook.

I was brought up in Denmark, Holland, and in the U.S.A by my Scottish Dad and Indonesian/Dutch Mom. Watching my Mom cook elaborate feasts throughout the 80’s onwards had always captured my imagination and created strong links to my cultural upbringing. My mom would be able to cook almost anything and often did. Ranging from a ‘rijsttafel’ (an Indonesian tapas-like affair involving countless dishes) to a show-stopping Beef Wellington with trimmings for main and a Rum chocolate mousse for dessert. As for the prawn cocktails, let’s leave those in the 80’s please!

I studied Sound Recording as part of a Film degree, but have mainly had jobs in Hospitality. I’ve worked in cafe’s, restaurants, catering, kitchens and also as an Ice Cream Chef.

Currently I am almost exclusively excited about exploring foods and cultures, learning and sharing as I go and expanding my skills and repertoire.

My main thing is to share what I know. I want to prove: you don’t always need loads of time, money or over-the-top culinary skills to create something amazing, you just need to find the right recipe. I don’t do over-complicated; I like making my life as easy as possible.

My sister is also food obsessed and is my go-to for advice on entertaining, I have learnt so much from her. Don’t believe me? Check out Kirsty’s food blog Gather and Be together with her friend Donata.

I’m always happy to chat about food, so drop me line anytime.
